Batana Oil is from Honduras!
You may be wondering firstly where is Honduras, I like to explain it by telling people “Honduras is located between Mexico and Columbia next to Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua just north of Costa Rica and Panama.”
And then secondly where is Roatan (my home, and inspiration for Wild Roatan), well Roatan is an island and is part of the Bay Islands of Honduras and is located 65 km off the northern coast of Honduras.
Roatan has been home to Paya Indians, home to famous Pirates such as Henry Morgan and John Coxen, and over 5000 pirates. The island has been claimed by the Spanish & English, with the latter relocating 5,000 Garifuna people from Saint Vincent, after they revolted against colonial rule. In 1859 the Bay Islands became part of Honduras.
And thirdly where is the La Mosquitia (where our Batana Oil comes from)? Located in the eastern part of Honduras, La Mosquitia is a remote region and is home to the largest area of tropical rainforest north of the Amazon basin. Home to the famous “Cuidad Blanca” and the Rio Platano Biosphere, an array of ancient river petroglyphs, amazing wildlife, and small remote communities. La Mosquitia was once a kingdom or country itself and even had a Miskito King who visited England.
Honduras, Roatan, and La Mosquitia have an amazing history, as you can see and I will continue to share more info, so stay tuned.
